Xiaomi India has announced that President Muralikrishnan B will step down by the end of the year to focus on academic research. After six years with the company, Murali will remain as a Strategic Advisor. The company’s leadership team, including Sudhin Mathur as COO, will continue to drive Xiaomi’s growth in the Indian market.

Xiaomi India has announced a significant leadership transition as Muralikrishnan B, the current President of Xiaomi India, will be stepping down from his role by the end of the year. After over six years with Xiaomi, Murali is pursuing his passion for academic research, focusing on an Executive Doctorate in Management. His new focus will be on ‘Consumer Behaviour on Technology Platforms.’
Murali joined Xiaomi India in 2018 and quickly climbed the ranks, serving as Chief Operating Officer before being promoted to President in 2022. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in strengthening Xiaomi’s brand presence in India, guiding strategic initiatives, and managing key public affairs. Under his leadership, Xiaomi became a household name, connecting millions of Indians with innovative technology products.
Adam Zeng, Senior Vice President of the Group and President of the International Business Department, praised Murali’s contributions. “Under Murali’s leadership, Xiaomi has seen exceptional success in India. We deeply appreciate his contribution, and our commitment to India’s growth journey remains stronger than ever,” Zeng said.

While Murali moves on to his academic pursuits, he will remain with Xiaomi as an independent Strategic Advisor, ensuring a smooth transition and continued support for the company’s initiatives.
Xiaomi India isn’t losing momentum. Sudhin Mathur, with over 30 years in the industry, will continue to guide key functions as COO. Other key leaders, including Sameer Rao (CFO), Varun Madan (CPO), and Anuj Sharma (CMO), will strengthen Xiaomi’s focus on delivering high-quality technology experiences and advancing the company’s ambitious vision for the next decade.
