Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda on Thursday clarified that he would not leave BJP to join Congress. Gowda expressed his unhappiness with the party for denying him a ticket from the Bengaluru North Lok Sabha constituency. He also lashed out at BS Yediyurappa and his family without naming him.
Sadananda Gowda accepted that he had an offer from Congress to contest Lok Sabha elections from Bengaluru North and he rejected it.
“Yes, I had an offer from Congress to contest elections. I said no to them. My next plan of action is to purify the Karnataka BJP,” Gowda said.
The senior BJP leader expressed his disappointment against the party for denying him a ticket from the Bengaluru North constituency.
“Modi must become the Prime Minister again. I have appealed to all the like-minded people to come together to purify Karnataka BJP. The purification will start after the Lok Sabha elections. After I announced my retirement from electoral politics, a few leaders forced me to contest elections. Later, they ditched me,” he said.
The former Union Minister also lashed out at Yediyurappa and his son BY Vijayendra without naming them.
“People in responsible positions in the party have become selfish. They have converted the party for themselves, their children, their relatives and close aides. People are speaking about it. The BJP must get rid of such leaders. Nobody is speaking about it openly,” Gowda said.
When asked about another disgruntled leader KS Eshwarappa’s statement ‘Vijayendra will be replaced after Lok Sabha polls’, Gowda agreed to it without elaborating further.
Sadananda Gowda was eyeing a BJP ticket from Bengaluru North but the party gave it to Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje.
