BJP Mysuru candidate Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar meets BS Yediyurappa in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru: A day after BJP gave ticket to royal scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar from Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency, the 31-year-old visited the BJP office in the city and met veteran party leader BS Yediyurappa at the latter’s residence.
Yaduveer was welcomed at the BJP office by state president BY Vijayendra and opposition leader in the Assembly R Ashoka among other leaders.
The US-educated royal’s name was announced on Wednesday in the list of 20 names released by the BJP from Karnataka. The BJP denied a ticket to two-time sitting MP Pratap Simha from Mysuru.
Speaking to reporters, Yaduveer said that he has the support of Pratap Simha and would develop Mysuru based on the foundation laid by the sitting MP.
“I was welcomed by the BJP leaders like a younger brother. I have been given a chance to work for Mysuru and I am thankful for that. Pratap Simha has done a good job and I will take it forward. I have spoken with Pratap Simha and he has agreed to support me,” Yaduveer said.
When asked about why he chose the BJP, Yaduveer said that the party’s vision aligns with his thoughts on development.
“For the past one year, I was planning for it. Through public life, we can do better things. Once we are in public life we will have to work with the public. There is no difference between raja and praja in modern India; everyone is equal before the law and God. I will contest the election as any other candidate. This is a fight between common men and I will also contest as the common man. We will be judged by our ability,” the BJP candidate said.
