Agra: The dramatic visuals of Indian Air Force’s MiG-29 fighter jet going down in Agra were widely shared on social media, but the one thing which missed the people’s galore was the video of enthusiastic locals who rushed to save the pilot who had managed to eject just before the crash on Monday.
The video shows people rushing towards the crashed site as soon as they see the pilot who was parachuting down. In the video, locals can be seen helping the pilot in removing his helmet and gear. The background audio in video shows villagers saying the ‘Bach gao fauji’ (the military man is alive) while rushing towards the crashed site.

MiG-29 fighter jet crashed during routine sortie
A MiG-29 fighter jet of the IAF crashed in a field near Uttar Pradesh’s Agra on Monday during a routine training sortie. The jet reportedly suffered a ‘system malfunction’.
Several videos captured by locals purportedly showed the jet in a tailspin before plunging on the ground near Sunega village and burst into flames.
Pilot manoeuvred fighter jet to fields before ejecting
According to media reports, the pilot managed to manoeuvre the aircraft away from the residential areas to ensure no damage to life or property on the ground. IAF has already ordered a Court of Inquiry to ascertain the cause of the crash.
“A MiG-29 aircraft of the IAF crashed near Agra during a routine training sortie today, after encountering a system malfunction. The pilot manoeuvred the aircraft to ensure no damage to life or property on ground, before ejecting safely. An enquiry has been ordered by the IAF, to ascertain the cause of the accident,” the IAF posted on X.
In a similar incident, a MiG-29 fighter aircraft of the IAF had crashed in Rajasthan’s Barmer on September 2 due to a technical snag. The pilot had managed to ejected safely.
