New Delhi: Hollywood star Tom Cruise is stepping up to cover the full cost of his daughter Suri’s college education as she embarks on a new chapter in her life. The actor known for his roles in blockbuster films like Mission: Impossible and Top Gun, has committed to pay $65,000 per year for Suri’s tuition at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
This financial responsibility stems from his divorce agreement with his ex-wife Katie Holmes, finalised in 2012. Under the agreement, Tom pledged to cover all education-related expenses for Suri, including her college fees once she turned 18.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, the 18-year-old Suri Cruise recently moved into her dorm at the private university with her mother, Katie Holmes, by her side. The actress has maintained full custody of Suri since the couple’s high-profile separation, during which Cruise agreed to significant child support payments. These included covering all of Suri’s expenses—medical, dental, education, and extracurricular activities—totalling $400,000 per year. However, with Suri now 18 and beginning her college journey, Tom’s financial obligations to Holmes have officially ended.
A friend of the actor shared insights with the Mail, stating, “Tom is indeed paying for Suri’s tuition; he has always covered her schooling and would never stop, as he is a stand-up guy.” The friend emphasized Cruise’s unwavering commitment to his daughter’s well-being, despite their reportedly strained relationship. Cruise has not been publicly seen with Suri since April 2013, and there are speculations that their relationship has cooled significantly over the years.

Suri’s recent decision to drop her father’s last name adds to the speculation. Before starting college, she legally changed her name to Suri Noelle, adopting her mother’s middle name instead of continuing with the Cruise surname.
