Telangana government launched a comprehensive door-to-door family survey to assess the social, economic, caste, educational, political status of each household in the state.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated the program at the GHMC office on Wednesday.
Data will be collected over the next three weeks which will be followed by three weeks of preparation of explanatory notes and revisits to missing houses. As many as 80,000 enumerators and 18,000 supervisors have been employed and trained to carry out the survey.
In the GHMC limits alone, 18,723 enumerators and 1,870 supervisors have been appointed for a comprehensive survey of households.
The census will entail 75 questions with 56 questions focusing on aspects like household income, education level, land ownership, employment status, reservation benefits. The survey will be divided into two parts with part 1 about personal details on family members while part 2 will focus on broader family information.
The survey will be completed by December 8 and a report will be submitted by December 9.
Caste census:
The state government and Congress leadership has said that the caste census is a step towards ensuring equitable representation in local governance and addressing needs of backward classes in the state.
