Right time for Virat Kohli to quit from Tests? Here’s what ex-India star has to say | Cricket News

Cricket News

Virat Kohli, who celebrated his 36th birthday on November 5, Tuesday, is not in the best of form in the longest format of the game.

New Delhi: While we are not bent upon making Virat Kohli take the decision of retirement from the red-ball format soon but his recent form has left all his fans worrying. Kohli, apart from not scoring runs in the recently-concluded New Zealand Test series, showcased reckless cricketing skills in the longest format of the game, not treating the Tests as they should have be treated.

Lack of support from senior members of the team like Kohli, skipper Rohit Sharma among other cost India a series sweep after almost 24 years in the Tests at home. Cricket fans were all over social media, venting out their frustration and also urging Kohli and Rohit to step away from Tests. Maybe this might be another lean patch in the career of the legendary cricketer and should be soon replaced by a purple one but relentless failures just pour negativity in the minds of the fans and all the critics.

Kohli should stand tall in BGT

The next Test assignment for India is the crucial Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which begins with the first Test in Perth from November 22. The senior contenders in the side do not have much time left to improvise and get back to the normal shape where they start delivering for their team and for Kohli, it’s no different. The legend needs to get back his legendary status as soon as possible with the BGT the perfect platform to roar back.

Over many past few day, star India batter received a lot of criticism for his recent poor show where fans asked for his retirement but a former Indian team skipper believes that it’s too early for Kohli to retire. Kris Srikkanth, one of India’s legendary players, has said that despite Kohli’s poor form in the red-ball format, it’s too early for him to call it quits.

Srikanth, on his Youtube show, had a different opinion for Rohit saying that he will himself retire from Test cricket if he fails to fire in the all-important Australia series. Additionally, the veteran Indian cricketer also backed Kohli to regain his form on the Australia tour, which has been a lucky space for him throughout.
