Ratan Tata death news: The Tata Group chief breathed his last on Wednesday night at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after being admitted due to blood pressure issues on Sunday night.

Mumbai: India went into mourning as it lost its most revered and coveted industrialist Ratan Tata at the age of 86 in Mumbai on Wednesday night. The Tata Group Chairman Emeritus breathed his last at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital after being hospitalised due to age-related ailments om Sunday.

Tributes came pouring in for the legendary industrialist Ratah Tata. Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Mr Tata as a visionary business leader and a compassionate soul.

President Droupadi Murmu called the passing of Ratan Tata as India’s lost of a visionary leader who seamlessly combined corporate success with nation-building and upheld the highest standards of ethics in business. A recipient of both the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, Ratan Tata expanded the Tata legacy to a remarkable global scale. His influence extended beyond business, inspiring professionals and students alike with his integrity and leadership.

“Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses. At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to several people thanks to his humility, kindness and an unwavering commitment to making our society better,” he wrote in a post on X.

“One of the most unique aspects of Shri Ratan Tata Ji was his passion towards dreaming big and giving back. He was at the forefront of championing causes like education, healthcare, sanitation, animal welfare to name a few,” he added in a series of posts on X.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh offered condolences at the demise of Ratan Tata, saying “Saddened by the passing away of Shri Ratan Tata. He was a Titan of the Indian industry known for his monumental contributions to our economy, trade and industry. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and admirers. May his soul rest in peace.”.

Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi also paid tribute to Ratan Tata. Gandhi said, “Ratan Tata was a man with a vision. He has left a lasting mark on both business and philanthropy. My condolences to his family and the Tata community.”

Ratan Tata’s demise

Ratan Tata was admitted to the hospital late on Sunday night between 12:30 to 1 AM due to complaints of low blood pressure. He was being treated in the ICU by Dr. Shahrukh Aspi Golwalla. The official time of his death will be shared by the hospital authorities.

A recipient of Padma Vibhushan, he breathed his last at south Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at 11.30 pm.

“It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said in a statement on Wednesday night.

Chandrasekaran described Ratan Tata as a friend, mentor, and guide, who led by example with unwavering dedication to excellence, integrity, and innovation. He highlighted that under Tata’s leadership, starting in 1991, the Tata Group significantly expanded its global presence while steadfastly adhering to its ethical principles.
