‘Priyanka will be like your mother, sister, daughter’: Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad | India News

India News

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed gratitude to Wayanad for supporting her brother, Rahul Gandhi, through challenging times and emphasized her commitment to addressing youth unemployment. Rahul shared a personal story, highlighting Priyanka’s resilience and compassion, as both siblings urged voters to support positive change.

Wayanad: In a campaign address for Wayanad Lok Sabha byelection, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday expressed her deep appreciation for the opportunity to represent United Democratic Front (UDF) as their candidate. She described Wayanad as a place blessed with a rich history, stunning beauty, and a unique warmth in its people.

Priyanka acknowledged the support her brother, Rahul Gandhi, received from the community during tough times when he faced intense criticism and attacks from the ruling party, the BJP. She emphasised that it were the people of Wayanad who recognized Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to fighting for the truth, which gave him the strength to continue.

What Priyanka Gandhi said

In addressing national issues, Priyanka highlighted the alarming unemployment rates in the country. She pointed out that the current government has been in power for ten years but has failed to take effective action to create jobs for the youth.

“This government is not doing anything for the youngsters, for their jobs,” she said, urging voters to consider the future of their children as they head to the polls.

What Rahul Gandhi said

Rahul Gandhi also shared his sentiments about campaigning for his sister. He said that this is the first time Priyanka is contesting in an election, while she had previously come to support him during his campaigns. “I can either give a political speech or speak to you as if you were my family,” Rahul Gandhi said.

He humorously mentioned his father’s childhood photography competition, where both siblings were encouraged to capture the best pictures with small cameras. While he took pictures of their mother and grandmother, Priyanka focused on capturing images of dogs. Despite not winning the competition, Rahul Gandhi emphasised that Priyanka’s love for photography endured. “She didn’t stop taking photographs; she learned how to take photographs, and today, I can proudly say she is a better photographer,” he said.
