Based on the woman’s complaint, the police have launched an investigation against BS Yediyurappa. The police are likely to record the statement of the victim before questioning the former Chief Minister.

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after a woman approached Sadashivangar Police Station claiming that her 17-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted. Earlier, the complainant had reportedly filed various complaints against 53 noted personalities including politicians and police officers, TV9 Kannada reported.

The complainant who is the mother of the minor girl previously registered several complaints like assault, threat and cheating against 53 people including her business partner, TV9 Kannada reported.

However, the case against Yediyurappa is serious when compared to the other previous cases filed by the complainant against many other people.

Case against Yediyurappa

According to the FIR, the complainant on Thursday night approached the Sadashivanagar Police Station and gave a written complaint against Yediyurappa.

The victim’s mother in the complaint claimed that her daughter was allegedly sexually assaulted at his residence on February 2 this year.

The FIR states that the complainant had gone to meet Yediyurappa seeking to hand over her daughter’s rape case to the Special Investigation Team. According to reports, the woman had filed a complaint against her husband’s relative claiming that he had sexually assaulted her daughter in 2015. The case is under investigation.

The complainant claims that Yediyurappa took her daughter inside a room and touched her private parts. She also alleged that the senior BJP leader sought an apology and asked her not to speak about it in public.

Based on the complaint, the Sadashivanagar Police have registered a case against Yediyurappa under the POCSO Act and IPC section 353 A (sexual harassment).
