Nothing OS 3.0 Beta Version is now available for a limited number of users. Here is what’s new coming to your Nothing devices soon.

Nothing smartphone users will soon witness the upcoming Nothing OS 3.0. Sooner than expected, Nothing announced the first public beta of Nothing OS 3.0, however, it is limited to Phone (2a) users. The general release is expected this December 2024, while the beta program will ensure that the testers may get a taste of the new OS version ahead of its official release. If you are a beta tester, then you have a chance to get an exclusive experience of Nothing OS 3.0 based on Android 15. 

While the Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta is available for Phone (2a) users yet, the Nothing Phone 2 will get it in November, and the Phone 1, Phone 2a Plus, and CMF Phone 1 users will be able to get the experience of OS 3.0 in December 2024. What should you expect from Nothing OS 3.0? Check here. 

Nothing OS 3.0: What’s New?

Nothing has teased several features that you will experience with the upcoming OS update in a quick video, while the community page suggested all the expected upgrades in detail. Here is a quick view:

Lock screen: With Nothing OS 3.0, you will experience a new lock screen customisation page. Moreover, you will be able to access it by long-pressing and get upgraded clock faces. You can also expect expanded widget space, allowing you to place more widgets on your lock screen.

Smart Drawer: It will also bring an AI-powered Smart Drawer feature which will help you automatically categorise your apps into folders. Not just that, you can pin your favourite apps to the top of the app drawer without the need to scroll.

‎Quick Settings: You will soon get updated visuals in the Settings app such as better Network Internet and Bluetooth options.‎

Camera improvements: Your camera features and the app is also getting some crucial updates. Nothing OS 3.0 will bring faster camera launch speed under the Camera Widget. Moreover, there will be reduced HDR scene processing time. What else? You can expect optimised portrait effects by fine-tuning blur intensity based on face size, boosted camera performance in low-light environments, and improved zoom slider display.

Enhanced pop-up view: Movable pop-up view for cleaner and more productive multitasking. Easily resize the pop-up view by dragging the bottom corners. Pin the pop-up view on the screen edge for quick access. View information without leaving your current app. Simply swipe down on incoming notifications to enter the pop-up view. Enable via Settings > System > Pop-up view.

‎What else? 

Apart from these, the Nothing OS 3.0 is also expected to add support for the auto-archive option which will help to free up the storage space. That means you don’t need to remove apps or data from your device. Plus, there will be an option to record a partial screen instead of full access while recording. 

How To Download Nothing OS 3.0 

  • To get the experience of Nothing OS 3.0, install the NOS version 2.6 with build number Pacman-U2.6-240828_1906 on Nothing Phone 2a, and later on the other devices as per the rollout schedule. 
  • Download the APK and install it on your device.
  • Now, go to Settings, open System, and Update to Beta Version. If available, check for the new version and follow the on-screen instructions.
