A techie earning Rs 80 lakh in Europe asked netizens if moving to Bengaluru was a good plan. Here’s how they responded.

Bengaluru: A man earning Rs 80 lakh in Europe took to Reddit to ask users of the platform if moving to Bengaluru for a lower salary package was a good idea. Netizens responded to the post with most of them enlisting the disadvantages of returning to the country’s grim corporate life. They spoke of how employees in the country were struggling to maintain a work-life balance.

“My salary is close to 80 lakh CTC. I have received an offer in Bangalore which is about 50 lakh CTC. I am considering accepting it because purchasing power is better in India and the market is bigger in India,” wrote the techie on Reddit. He also informed Redditors that his family was against his decision to move back. Netizens immediately discouraged the man and helped him understand the problems faced by those working in India.

“Horrible work-life balance, Lack of civic sense, European taxes for African lifestyle, peak corruption, adulterated food, Casteism, polluted air, etc were some of the reasons raised by netizens. One netizen wrote, “Just 50L. You do know that Nirmala tai will eat 30% of that in the blink of an eye. Plus Bangalore rent is again skyrocketing with that we are already heading towards a dry winter (forget summer people are facing a water crunch now).”

Some Redditors ran the extra mile and explained how labour laws in Europe made it difficult for companies to exploit their employees, unlike India. They also warned the techie about unexpected layoffs which were becoming very common.
