New Delhi: Lakmé Fashion Week, in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), has been India’s premier fashion and lifestyle event for over 25 years, setting the stage for redefining fashion and curating unique experiences. Jointly organised by Lakmé and RISE Worldwide, the event brings together over 100 designers, brands, and industry stakeholders, making it a hub for emerging talent, sustainability, and the business of fashion. This season, the joint schedule offers a stellar line-up of designers from Delhi, Mumbai, and across India, blending tradition with modern innovation.

Lakmé Fashion Week 2024, held at The Grand, New Delhi from 9th to 13th October, kicked off in grand style with an exciting mix of fashion showcases. Day 1 saw some of the biggest names in the fashion industry gracing the runway, including Bollywood stars like Bhumi Pednekar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Shefali Shah. Even Olympian Manu Bhaker made her mark by swapping her shooting sneakers for high-fashion shoes, stunning the audience as a showstopper.

The Denim Edit by Dhruv Kapoor

Dhruv Kapoor presented a fresh take on denim, drawing inspiration from retro yet contemporary designs. His collection reshaped classic styles with sophisticated treatments, featuring a combination of oversized and petite pieces, distressed and hand-embroidered details, and raw as well as painted denim. This limited-edition collection brought new energy to denim through bold design choices, giving it a modern twist.

Bhumi Pednekar steals the show as she turns showstopper for Richa Khemka

Richa Khemka’s latest collection was inspired by the intricate beauty of intertwining threads, turning them into wearable art. The collection featured luxurious textures and fabrics that embodied her artistic vision. Bhumi Pednekar stole the show as she walked the runway in a black, shimmering halter-neck blouse with a plunging neckline, paired with a draped skirt, perfectly capturing the glamour of the event.

Payal Jain’s Uzbek-inspired collection

Payal Jain’s collection took inspiration from her travels to Uzbekistan, drawing on the rich cultural heritage of the region’s textiles. She incorporated vibrant Suzani and Ikat fabrics, creating bold prints and intricate embroidery. The collection featured rich colours like deep blues, crimson, and turmeric, with striking handmade jewellery that completed the nomadic look. The combination of traditional techniques with modern silhouettes made the collection stand out.

Abraham & Thakore: Sustainable fashion

On Sustainable Fashion Day, Abraham & Thakore’s collection brought old memories to life, transforming everyday objects into evening wear. From discarded sweet wrappers to cassette tapes, they reinvented these materials with luxurious silks and organzas, adding intricate embroideries. Actress Shefali Shah was the showstopper, embodying the brand’s creative vision of sustainable fashion with an elegant twist.

Olympian Manu Bhaker walked the ramp for Marks & Spencer

Olympic shooter Manu Bhaker made a statement as the showstopper for Marks & Spencer, showcasing their latest autumn collection. Dressed in a chic autumn-ready look, she proved that her style on the runway was as sharp as her aim on the shooting range.
