The Congress CEC is said to have finalised the names of 16 candidates so far. The discussions are underway over the rest of the seats. The Congress has already announced the names of seven candidates.

Bengaluru: The Congress is set to give Lok Sabha tickets to the children of five cabinet ministers in Karnataka. According to reports, the Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) has finalised the names and has orally ordered the candidates to start preparations for the campaigning.
The names recommended by the state Congress unit were discussed in the party CEC meeting held in Delhi on Tuesday and the announcement is expected soon.
Sowmya Reddy
Former Jayanagar MLA and senior minister Ramalinga Reddy’s daughter Sowmya Reddy’s name has been finalised from Bengaluru South Constituency. Sowmya Reddy has already begun her campaign in the BJP stronghold. She will be contesting against BJP MP Tejasvi Surya.
Priyanka Jarkiholi
PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi’s daughter Priyanka is likely to make her electoral debut from Chikkodi Lok Sabha seat. Satish had earlier ruled out his daughter’s candidature but is said to have agreed to field his daughter after pressure from the Congress high command. Priyanka has been active in the Belagvi district for the past three years.
Samyukta Patil
Congress might field her from the Bagalkot constituency. She is the daughter of Sugar Minister Shivanand Patil. Congress leader Veena Kashappanavar was also trying to get the ticket, but, the party is said to have finalised Samyukta’s name. The BJP has given a ticket to 4-time MP PC Gaddigoudar.
Mrinal Hebbalkar
Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar’s son Mrinal is likely to contest from the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency. Hebbalkar had lobbied for her son at the high command level through Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. Hebbalkar’s brother Channaraj Hattiholi is an MLC. The BJP is yet to name the candidate and might field former CM Jagadish Shettar.
Sagar Khandre
Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre’s son Sagar might be fielded from the Bidar Lok Sabha segment. Sagar had made a failed attempt to get an Assembly ticket last year. The BJP has fielded Union Minister Bhagwanth Khuba.
Apart from these five, Excise Minister RB Thimmapur is also trying his best to get a ticket to his son Vinay Thimmapur from Chitradurga. Congress leader Chandrappa is also eyeing a ticket from the constituency.
