In a shocking incident, the iPhone 14 Pro Max exploded in China! A woman in Shanxi, China faced severe burns in her hand while sleeping as she reported the explosion of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. As per a Chinese news website MyDrivers, the woman was charging her iPhone 14 Pro Max while sleeping on November 4th but it accidentally exploded and caught fire around 6:30 in the morning.
When she woke up, she was shocked to find that there was smoke and fire all over the place and the iPhone 14 Pro Max was completely damaged. Not only that, the video shared showing the aftermath of the incident suggests that her bedding was completely burned and the walls got black subdues due to the smoke.
How iPhone 14 Pro Max Exploded
As per the initial investigation, the malfunction on the battery caused the explosion of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Another issue which could be true is the overheating of the battery as the woman had left the charging overnight.
The exploded iPhone 14 Pro Max was purchased in 2022, which means it has expired the warranty period. However, due to the massive loss and explosion, the woman is eager to find the real reason behind it.
Apple Responded
Apple’s customer service provider ensured that an expired warranty period would not be an issue in this case as this is a case of safety issue which should be taken very seriously. Apple customer service requested the owner of the iPhone 14 Pro Max to send it back for analysis first to understand the reason behind the explosion.
How To Keep Your Phone Safe From Explosion
While this is such an unfortunate incident which could have caused even more serious injuries but this is not the first time when a phone exploded while charging. In the past, several other smartphones have experienced the explosion due to overheating, hence it is always advised to not leave the phone on charge overnight. Also, it is suggested to use the original chargers of the smartphone to avoid any mishap.
However, it is still unclear if the exploded iPhone 14 Pro Max’s battery was original or not.
