New Delhi: A section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in the Delhi stretch is set to get operational on November 12. The information about this was shared by South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri. In the announcement, he said that the six-lane highway in the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is ready for operation. Along with it a bridge over Agra Canal and another over Gurgaon Canal are also completed. Bidhuri stated that the opening of this section will elevate the problem of traffic congestion from Mathura Road.
The section which is an elevated corridor passes through Yamuna Khadar, Okhla Vihar, and Batla House along the Yamuna riverbank, these area are often heavily congested. Near the Maharani Bagh, there is a ramp on the corridor which will cross the road near the Ashram entrance and connect to the DND flyover, as per a report by the Times of India.
Mahrani Bagh to Sohna in just 25 minutes
Bidhuri said that the development of these projects costed around Rs 5,500 crore. The section will provide an alternate route to the vehicles going to Faridabad, Palwal, and Sohna. “This will not only reduce congestion but also cut travel time between Maharani Bagh and Sohna. Currently it takes 2.5 hours to travel here but it will be reduce to just 25 minutes once the bridges and highways open.”
Expressway to cut travel time significantly
Once the complete Delhi-Mumbai Expressway becomes operational it will take just 12 hours to travel between the national capital and the financial capital. Additionally, the time taken to travel between Delhi and Gujarat will reduce from 18 hours to 10.5 hours with Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The expressway is also expected to cut the travel time between various places which fall in the route. As per a Times Property report, the expressway will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Jaipur from 5 hours to three and a half hours.
