Dehradun International Film Festival celebrates cinema & young talent | Highlights
New Delhi: The ninth season of the Dehradun International Film Festival has been wrapped up in a grand way after three days of its star-studded event and engaging sessions. The festival, which was held at Hotel Solitaire on Haridwar Road, was inaugurated by Cabinet Ministers, Subodh Uniyal and Saurabh Bahuguna. The duo praised the initiative and highlighted the importance of such events to inspire the youth of Uttarakhand.
The festival also honoured several celebrities including Rajasthani folk-pop singer Ila Arun, actors Gajendra Chauhan Adil Hussain, Rajesh Sharma, Manoj Joshi, Zakir Hussain, Sharib Hashmi, Deepak Kejriwal, Pankaj Berry and directors Pushpendra Singh, Kamal Chandra, and Agnidev Chatterjee along with young talents such as Mizoram, Sebastian Jessica, and Subrina.
What happened in the 3-day film festival?
On the second day of the event, Ila Arun encouraged students to focus on honing their talents and suggested that self-refinement is key to building a distinct identity. Actor KK Raina also shared his insights and stated that acting goes beyond delivering dialogues and it’s more about bringing emotions to life.
On day three, Ila Arun and KK Raina hosted a talk show at Silver City, followed by a screening of their film, Trikal. They further provided in-depth insights about the filmmaking process and offered technical insights.
Over the three-day event, around 75 films including short films, documentaries as well as Persian and Israeli films were screened. Interestingly, director Kamal Chandra’s Hamare Barah received a special appreciation from the audience. The festival concluded with momento presentations and honouring the work of filmmakers and actors whose films were screened at the festival.

Judges for the event include Rakshima Tomar, Kiran Singh, Sonali Sarkar, Rajiv Sachar, PS Kochar, Komal Vohra, and Muktesh Handa. The final day also saw winners being awarded trophies, mementoes and certificates. The festival also proved to be a remarkable success and a great platform for the youth of Uttarakhand.
