The Boult BassBox X60 is an affordable soundbar at Rs. 3,999 that enhances TV audio with decent sound quality and connectivity options. Want to know if it lives up to expectations? Read on.

The latest Boult BassBox X60 is the company’s most affordable soundbar yet. While there are a plethora of options when it comes to home audio products within a budget, but it is difficult to find a perfect experience. Priced at Rs. 3,999, this entry-level soundbar promises to enhance the audio quality of your TV’s built-in speakers as well as a rich audio quality for music sessions. To keep the price below Rs. 5,000, Boult has left out some advanced features found in elder siblings, such as the X250 and X500. The BassBox X60 does not support Dolby Digital Sound and offers a basic 2.1 channel setup, which results in lower audio output compared to its pricier counterparts.

However, the BassBox X60 offers good value with its sound quality and connectivity options. After spending a few weeks testing it, I found that it performs well for a compact soundbar, although it does come with some compromises. Is it a great buy? Here are my observations.

Boult Bassbox X60 Soundbar Design

The Boult Bassbox X60 features a modern design, highlighted by a mesh grille that adds a nice touch. The rounded edges enhance its look, while the front speaker grille contrasts with the shiny plastic body. The Boult logo is located on the front left, and the LED connectivity indicator is on the far right. Basic control buttons for power, play/pause, and volume are found on the right side. While I appreciated its lightweight design, but the lack of a wall-mount option couldn’t let me set it up with my bedroom’s TV setup on the wall.

Similar is the case with its subwoofer, which features a classic black design that matches the soundbar well, but lacks the wall-mount. Boult also includes a remote control to manage the soundbar’s settings, though the build quality of the remote could be better.

Boult Bassbox X60 Soundbar Audio Performance

With 60W of power, the Boult Bassbox X60 delivers decent sound with clarity. It offers a 2.1-channel audio output, supported by an integrated Digital Signal Processing (DSP) that helps improve sound quality. At low and medium volumes, the audio remains clear and balanced. Even at full volume, the output stays loud and clear, with minimal distortion. I found that keeping the volume around 70-90% provided the best audio experience. While it doesn’t deliver a heavy bass response, it is suitable for small house parties!

The audio is not dynamic, hence, for various listening scenarios, the soundbar includes three preset EQ modes: News, Music, and Movie Modes. You can easily switch between these modes using the included remote. The News mode enhances vocal clarity, making it suitable for podcasts or news broadcasts. Movie mode offers a balanced audio experience, ensuring that dialogues and background scores are clear. While it may not be the top performer in its category, the Bassbox X60 does well for movies and shows, especially given its price.

Boult Bassbox X60 Soundbar Connectivity and Features

The Boult Bassbox X60 provides a range of connectivity options. It supports Bluetooth v5.4 for easy pairing with Bluetooth-enabled devices like smartphones, TVs, and tablets. I found the Bluetooth connection to be quick and seamless, with no noticeable lag during playback. In addition to Bluetooth, it also offers AUX, USB, Optical, and HDMI (ARC) connections, providing several ways to connect to your devices.

However, I experienced some issues with the remote control’s sensitivity. It did not work well unless I pointed it directly at the soundbar, which has been inconvenient. You need to press it firmly and keep it aligned with the soundbar for it to operate effectively. Too much work for a remote!

Verdict

The Boult BassBox X60 offers decent value for its price of Rs. 3,999, delivering clear sound and multiple connectivity options. While it lacks advanced features like Dolby Digital Sound and has a basic 2.1 channel setup, it performs well for an entry-level soundbar. The audio is clear at moderate volumes, and the three EQ modes add versatility for different listening experiences.

However, there are a few areas for improvement, like the lack of wall-mount support and the remote’s sensitivity, could be a drawback. Additionally, the build quality of the remote leaves room for enhancement.
For those looking for a budget-friendly soundbar with solid bass and clear audio for movies and music, the Boult Bassbox X60 is a great option at Rs. 3,999 (on Flipkart).
