A doctor has stirred a debate online after giving a condom to a beggar on Diwali. Read on to know more!

New Delhi: Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is a time for sharing joy, warmth, and appreciation with family and friends through thoughtful gifts. Traditionally, this celebration has always been about exchanging items that carry meaning, such as sweets, decorative lamps, and handmade crafts, symbolizing love, prosperity, and good fortune. People also share gifts and money and sweets with needy people during the festival season to express care and joy of sharing.

However, one doctor has come under fire for giving an unconventional and possibly insensitive gift to a beggar. The doctor posted a controversial video on social media that many found offensive. In the clip, uploaded on October 31, the doctor walks up to a woman holding a toddler during Diwali celebrations and, instead of offering assistance, hands her a condom. This act quickly caught attention online, leading to widespread public backlash.

Doctor gives condom to beggar

The video was initially posted on X by a user named Duryodhan, though it has since been removed. In the clip, the doctor approaches a woman sitting on the sidewalk. Rather than offering her money or food, he gives her a condom. The moment becomes even more uncomfortable when the toddler beside her reaches out, attempting to grab it.

‘Best way to help roadside beggar’, he captioned the video

The doctor captioned the video with, “Best way to help roadside beggars,” intending to comment on the issue of having children without adequate resources for their care and education. However, the post was met with heavy criticism for its insensitivity, with many users voicing their outrage in the comments.

Several users doubled down on the doctor. “This is extremely inappropriate and offensive. You made a content out of her suffering. You used it without CONSENT. As a doctor or responsible citizen, do you think it’s okay to shame her for fun? It’s shameful enough for anyone, but it’s rather disappointing from a doctor.” one user wrote.
