Furthermore, to promote usage of the new stretch, NHAI will issue free passes for the first few months, and toll charges will be set lower than those currently in place on the Dobbspet-Doddaballapur and Doddaballapur-Hoskote sections.

Full project anticipated to complete by 2027
Once the Hoskote to Tamil Nadu border stretch is operational, the total length of the STRR will reach 102.6 kilometers. The project aims for full completion by 2027, which will see the entire ring road span 288 kilometers, including 45 kilometers in Tamil Nadu.
Fifty per cent of the work on the Hoskote-Tamil Nadu border stretch has been completed, with the team on schedule to meet the February-March deadline as per the statement given by KB Jayakumar, Project Director of NHAI in Bengaluru. He also emphasised that the greenfield project is being developed from the ground up, allowing for comparatively lower toll rates.
Existing toll rates on operational stretches:
Currently, drivers traveling the 81.6-kilometer Dobbspet-Hoskote stretch pay Rs 185 for a one-way journey and Rs 275 for a return trip within 24 hours, amounting to Rs 2.2 per kilometer for single journeys and Rs 1.68 for return trips.
Tenders issued for other sections
The new stretch boasts a design akin to the NICE Road, featuring an 11-meter depressed median to separate opposing traffic flows. It will also connect to the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, referred to as NE 7.
The STRR stretch from Dobbspet to the Tamil Nadu border (102.6 kilometers) has been designated as NH 648. Earlier this month, NHAI issued tenders for the remaining five stretches of the STRR, totaling 144.25 kilometers, with an estimated cost of Rs 4,749.74 crore and a completion deadline of two years. These segments will be designated as NH 948.
