Bengaluru: A social media post from an X user gathered huge traction from netizens after they saw her demand for finding an ideal flatmate. X user Vanshita shared a post on social media platform X in which she wrote an advertisement seeking a vegetarian flatmate for a 3BHK apartment in Bengaluru.

After the post went viral, her demands, particularly the demand for a vegetarian woman created a new controversy. In her post, Vanshita writes that the flat consists of a big bed, mattress,, AC, geyser, storage units, wardrobe and a wall-mount desk. She wrote that the rent for room will be Rs 17,000 per month and Rs 70,000 will have to be deposited as a security fee.

Writing about her demand for the flatmate, Vanshita writes, “Looking for my replacement in the room in fully furnished 3bhk in wilson garden, Bangalore to move in immediately. Want someone young, xx chromosomes, easy-going, won’t mind guests, pets, loud music, alcohol or smoke; preferable vegetarian and Hindi speaking.” She added that it washer room from where she is shifting to the another room of the flat.

Alcohol or smoke allowed

The post saw a mixed reaction from other uses, with some appreciating the flat while others being critical of the demands made by her for the flatmate. A user wrote, “Alcohol and smoking is allowed which is harmful for health but non-veg is not allowed.”

One user wrote, “I don’t get it, if its an equally shared place and they are paying for it too then why shall you get to decide their food habits? I mean not like you’re the landlord who owns the entire place?”

Other user criticised her for demanding a Hindi speaking flatmate, writing, “All okay and understandable. No offence but in a city like Bengaluru where largely most speak and are comfortable in English why this final condition giving preference to Hindi? Would a Tamilian, Malayali, Marathi or a Kannadathi from north not be allowed just because they don’t speak Hindi?”
