A tragic incident involving a military couple took place in which both husband and wife, who were stationed 250 kilometres apart, took their own lives. Flight Lieutenant Deendayal, who served in the Indian Air Force, and his wife, Captain Renu Tanwar, an Army officer, were found dead in separate locations.

Agra: Deendayal was posted at the Kheria Air Force Station in Agra, where he was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his government residence on the morning of October 15. According to reports, he had spent the previous evening, October 14, having dinner with his colleagues, showing no signs of distress. When he did not wake up the next morning, the staff broke down the door and found his body.

Meanwhile, Captain Renu Tanwar, who was originally stationed at a military hospital in Agra, was in Delhi for the treatment of her ailing mother. She was found dead on the same day in the Officers’ Mess in Delhi Cantonment. A suicide note was recovered near her body, in which she expressed her wish for her last rites to be performed alongside her husband’s. However, no suicide note was found in Deendayal’s residence.

Captain wife found dead in Delhi

Captain Renu arrived in Delhi with her mother and brother on the evening of October 14. The following morning, her body was found while her mother and brother were at AIIMS for medical care.

The couple had been married for two years after a love marriage. Both were respected officers in their respective branches of the military. Deendayal hailed from Bihar, while Renu was from Rajasthan. Renu’s body was sent to the Agra air station on October 16 for their last rites to be conducted as per her wishes.

Probe underway

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances that led to these heartbreaking events. The loss of both officers has left their families and colleagues in deep sorrow, and the armed forces are offering support to the grieving families during this difficult time.
