Your YouTube app is getting new features and look soon. Here’s what new will be added to your YouTube app and how it will change your experience.
YouTube’s Makeover: New Playback Controls, Playlist Voting, and Visual Changes
The video-streaming platform, YouTube is getting a makeover and a bunch of new features. YouTube announced a series of updates to enhance the user experience across all platforms including mobile, web, and TV apps. Talking about design makeovers, YouTube’s TV app is receiving several visual changes, such as larger thumbnails and a more responsive design.
In addition, YouTube Shorts will now have a new user interface on TV, allowing users to interact with content like comments and shops without interrupting their viewing experience. Channel pages on the TV app will feature immersive video previews to give users a quick look at the content. If you haven’t received these, then YouTube is expected to roll out these new updates soon to your apps. What else to expect? Here is everything YouTube announced.
YouTube Playback Speed
YouTube is introducing a more precise playback speed control feature. Previously, users could adjust video speeds in increments of 0.25x, but now you will be able to increase or decrease speeds in smaller steps of 0.05x. This allows for greater flexibility, letting you find your perfect viewing speed.
YouTube Collaborative Playlists
YouTube is making it easier to create and manage playlists with friends and family. By sharing a link or a QR code, you can now invite others to add your favourite videos to a playlist. This feature is perfect for group activities, such as planning parties or organising themed watchlists. Additionally, later this year, users will be able to vote on videos within playlists.
YouTube Will Have Custom Thumbnails With AI
The platform is also bringing more customisation options for playlist thumbnails. You can either upload your own images or use YouTube’s generative AI feature, “Create with AI.” This feature will help you to select a theme and pick from AI-generated images to design their thumbnails.
Sleep Timer
YouTube’s Sleep Timer is being rolled out to all users after an initial test with Premium members. This feature allows viewers to set a timer to pause videos automatically after a specific duration. It’s particularly useful for those who watch videos before bed, helping them avoid falling asleep while the content continues to play.
YouTube’s Miniplayer
The updated mini player on YouTube’s mobile app now offers more options. You can resize and move the mini-player while browsing other content, making multitasking easier.
YouTube To Provide Badges
YouTube is introducing badges to celebrate user milestones within the platform. Badges will recognise smaller achievements such as being one of the first members of a creator’s paid channel, being a top listener on YouTube Music, or having a creator like your comment.
