Dressed in a white bra top and a low-waisted skirt by Who Decides War, the Firework crooner’s outfit was the talk of the night. Her wet, messy curls added to the bold aesthetic, but what really got everyone buzzing was the QR code tattoo on her lower back. Yes, you read that right—Katy Perry has a QR code tattoo.

She also sported a futuristic arm accessory, a nod to her iconic Woman’s World look. Her deconstructed outfit and edgy accessories fit perfectly with the night’s avant-garde vibe.

What’s behind Katy Perry’s QR code tattoo?

Katy’s interactive QR code tattoo wasn’t just a fashion statement. When scanned, the tattoo directs fans to a page where they can pre-save her upcoming album 143, set to drop on September 20. It was a clever way to engage fans, turning her look into a promotional tool for her upcoming music.

Orlando Bloom, ever the supportive husband, had the honour of presenting Katy with the Video Vanguard Award. In a heartfelt speech, he gushed, “I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson. You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light, and her unique sense of humour to every song she writes and every music video she creates. I know her as a mother and partner who brings that same love and joy to our family.”

The countdown to Katy Perry’s new album 143 has officially begun, and if her VMAs look is any indication, it’s going to be bold and creative.
