Akbaruddin Owaisi was addressing a election rally in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad when he said that he still has ’15 minutes’ left with him. Owaisi’s remarks came after a supporter reminded him that only 15 minutes are left before the Election Commission’s campaigning deadline ends.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi addressed an election rally Aurangabad (now known as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) in Maharashtra ahead of state Assembly polls scheduled to take place later in the month. During his speech the Hyderabad MLA urged the Muslim voters to teach a lesson to the parties who indulge in divisive politics.

During his speech Owaisi accused ruling BJP and its alliance partners of dividing people people in the name of caste and religion. Owaisi junior said political parties in Maharashtra don’t have ideology left in them. Owaisi junior said he was being labelled as communal by those who indulge in divisive politics.

He urged Maratha, Muslim and Dalit communities to unite for the development of the Marathwada region.

Akbaruddin Owaisi says he still has ’15 minutes left’

During his speech, when someone from the crowd warned him about the approaching deadline to end the political campaign for the day, Owaisi looked at his watch and quipped that he still has 15 minutes late, prompting a huge cheer from the crowd.

“Now it’s 9.45pm, and the time limit to end the campaign is 10pm, so we still have 15 minutes left…please have patience as we still have 15 minutes with us,” said Akbaruddin Owaisi.

During a public gathering in 2012, Akbaruddin Owaisi was booked for his remarks where he had urged the authorities to remove police force just for 15 minutes to prove who was more ‘powerful and brave’.

Who is Akbaruddin Owaisi?

Younger brother of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Akbaruddin is a six-time MLA from Chandrayana Gutta Assembly seat in Old Hyderabad. Akbaruddin has been the party’s start campaigner in Assembly and Lok Sabha seats. Owaisi, alongwith his elder brother- Asaduddin- enjoys a strong following in Old Hyderabad area of the Telangana capital city.

In 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, AIMIM has announced to field 16 candidates across the state. In 2019 Assembly polls, the party had managed to win just two seats after fielding a total of 44 candidates.
