Matchday four has finally come to and end and here’s a look at the final set of games that were played tonight.

New Delhi: We are finally past the fourth matchday of Nations League 2024/25 and the final set of games of this particular matchday were played tonight. Things are shaping nicely for Portugal despite their draw against Scotland as they sit at the very top of the group, yet to be defeated. Meanwhile, teams like Spain and Romania continued their dominance in this Nations League campaign, with the Romanian side yet to drop a single point in their group.

On the other hand, Switzerland’s poor run of form was yet again witnessed against the Danish side as they finished the game all square. Poland and Croatia also managed to produce a thilling clash in a high scoring, end to end game, where both the teams shared the spoils.

Poland 3-3 Croatia

In Warsaw, Poland and Croatia played to a frantic 3-3 tie. The host team started well and took the lead thanks to a brilliant goal from midfielder Zielinski, but Croatia swiftly overcame this. After Sosa’s stunning volley tied the score, Sucic and Baturina’s goals placed Zlatko Dalic’s team comfortably in control.

However, the Poles rallied and used the outstanding Zalewski to get back into the game before halftime. Even though there were fewer goals in the second half, there was still a lot of drama. After 68 minutes, Szymanski equalized with a sweet low strike following some excellent work from replacement Lewandowski. The veteran striker was fouled by an onrushing Livakovic, leading to the goalkeeper being sent off and Croatia having to play the final 15 minutes with ten men.

Scotland 0-0 Portugal

At Hampden Park, Scotland held group leaders Portugal to a 0-0 draw, earning them their first Nations League point. After barely five minutes, McTominay wasted an opportunity to give Scotland the lead by heading a free header directly at the goalkeeper, giving Scotland the lead. Portugal gradually took control of the game and dominated possession and opportunities, but they were unable to overcome a determined Scotland defense.

Despite having the most shots in the game, a misfiring Ronaldo wasted excellent chances in his 200th international appearance. With a 70% possession percentage and the better opportunities all game long, the visitors’ superiority was evident. Meanwhile, Scotland barely created any chances to take the lead or even go upfront.

Spain 3-0 Serbia

Spain easily managed to defeat Serbia, 3-0 to earn the three points. Ayemeric Laporte headed home from a Porro cross to give De la Feunte’s team the lead early in the first half. Despite dominating the first forty five minutes, the home team failed to score a second goal. Spain had an opportunity to double their advantage from the penalty spot after the interval, but Morata’s shot went over the crossbar. However, despite missing the penalty, Morata made no mistake moments later, scoring from right inside the penalty area to double the score.

After Baena curled the free kick over the wall and into the back of the net to score Spain’s third goal, the Serbian defender, Strahinja Pavlovic was sent off for bringing down Oyarzabal on the edge of the box. In their upcoming Nations League match, Spain will travel to Denmark, while Serbia will go to Switzerland.

Switzerland 2-2 Denmark

Switzerland’s poor run of form and vulnerabilities were yet again exposed against Denmark. It was Remo Freuler wh opened the scoring in the 26th minute for the Swiss side but just barely a minute after, Gustav Isaksen scored an immediate leveller in the 27th minute to respond to Freuler’s opener. Switzerland were awarded a penalty right before the half time and Zeki Amdouni made no mistake in putting it away to give Switzerland a 2-1 lead before heading into the second half.

However, it was the Danish talisman, Christian Eriksen, who scored a well deserved goal in the 69th minute of the game, which turned out to be the last goal of the match, keeping the score levelled at 2-2.
