Police, alerted by the suspicious circumstances surrounding the girl’s death, discovered her body in the bathroom of the rented house where she had been working for the past year and a half.

Thanjavur: A disturbing incident in a Thanjavur home has shaken the community, revealing a harrowing tale of alleged domestic abuse and the tragic death of a 15-year-old girl. The victim, employed as a domestic help, was found lifeless in the toilet of the very house where she worked, her body bearing the horrific marks of sustained torture.

The gruesome discovery unfolded on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the Aminjikarai neighbourhood. Police, alerted by the suspicious circumstances surrounding the girl’s death, discovered her body in the bathroom of the rented house where she had been working for the past year and a half.

Initial investigations point towards a horrifying pattern of abuse of a girl by her employer. The Aminijikarai police have detained and are being interrogated, news agency PTI reported. The young girl, brought to the city by two individuals to work as domestic help, had allegedly endured constant torture at the hands of her employers. The investigation suggests a horrific pattern of abuse, including burns from a hot iron and cigarette butts, leaving the young girl with injuries that ultimately claimed her life, The Hindu reported.

The horror of the situation is amplified by the alleged actions of her employers. After the girl succumbed to her injuries, the couple allegedly left her body in the toilet and fled to the man’s sister’s house. It was only when the owner of the rented house, alerted by the suspicious death, contacted the police that the tragic reality unfolded.

The police, arriving at the scene, found the locked house and discovered the deceased girl’s body in the bathroom. The couple, Mohammad Nishad and Nasiya, were missing, prompting an immediate search for the suspects. They were later apprehended and are currently being interrogated by the Aminjikarai police.

The victim’s lifeless body bore the telltale marks of her ordeal, burns and strangulation marks. Police are awaiting the postmortem report from Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital to confirm the cause of death and establish the extent of the abuse endured by the young girl.
