According to a report by hollywoodreporter.com, Destin Daniel Cretton is likely to direct the upcoming project. The 45-year-old director is currently in talks regarding the fourth film in the series. However, there is no official confirmation about the same yet.
For the unversed, Cretton is best known for films such as I Am Not a Hipster, Short Term 12, The Glass Castle and Just Mercy. He gained widespread recognition with Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, released in August 2021.
Tom Holland to return as Spider-Man?
If social media buzz is to be believed, Spider-Man 4 will see the return of English actor Tom Holland in the titular role. It is being said that the much-anticipated film is set to begin production in 2025. The media outlet also reported that Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are working on the script, while Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and former Sony head Amy Pascal are producing the project.
It is to be noted that Spider-Man: No Way Home grossed over USD 1.9 billion worldwide. The Jon Watts directorial turned out to be the highest-grossing film of 2021. It also featured Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon and Jon Favreau in key roles.
