Telangana CM speaks at passing out parade at Telangana Police Academy
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has once again warned that encroachments on Full Tank Level (FTL) and Buffer Zones on lakes will be forced to vacate and the illegal structures demolished.
Participating in the passing out parade at Telangana Police Academy, the Congress leader said that the floods that hit the state recently were due to illegal construction on lake lands and other water bodies. He stated that the encroachments have disrupted natural water flow and are making the risk of floods worse.
“This is why we started Hydraa to root out evil doers who occupy lakes and water bodies. We will force people no matter how influential they are to vacate lakes and we will raze these buildings to the ground if necessary. Even if we get a stay on the demolitions, we will fight in the courts,” he added.
NOC Certificate from Hydraa:
Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (Hydraa) will reportedly play a key role in the building permit process. Permits for construction near lakes and water bodies will only be given if there’s a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the agency.
The NOC will be made mandatory under new building regulations, the government is working on. Illegal buildings will not be granted a house number, electricity connection and boundary walls.
In recent times, several illegal encroachments have been demolished in various places across the city.
Hydraa reclaims 11,732 acres of land in GHMC limits:
GHMC has submitted a report to the state government stating that 262 illegal structures have been demolished and 11,732 acres of land has been acquired in 23 areas.
