Ratan Tata news: On Monday, Ratan Tata had taken to social media to debunk rumours surrounding his health while he was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. He passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 86.

New Delhi: Ratan Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Group who propelled the Indian conglomerate onto the global stage through a series of high-profile acquisitions, has passed away, the Tata Group announced in a statement late Wednesday night. He was 86.

Just two days prior, on Monday, the industrialist had addressed health rumours in a social media post, reassuring his followers with a message: “Thank you for thinking of me.”

“I am aware of recent rumours about my health and want to assure everyone that these claims are baseless. I am undergoing routine medical check-ups due to my age and related conditions, but I remain in good spirits…” Tata wrote in a social media which turned out to be his last.

“I request the public and media refrain from spreading misinformation,” the 86-year-old had said.

In announcing his passing, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, praised Ratan Tata for his unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation.
