New Delhi: Ratan Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Group who propelled the Indian conglomerate onto the global stage through a series of high-profile acquisitions, has passed away, the Tata Group announced in a statement late Wednesday night. He was 86.
Just two days prior, on Monday, the industrialist had addressed health rumours in a social media post, reassuring his followers with a message: “Thank you for thinking of me.”
“I am aware of recent rumours about my health and want to assure everyone that these claims are baseless. I am undergoing routine medical check-ups due to my age and related conditions, but I remain in good spirits…” Tata wrote in a social media which turned out to be his last.
“I request the public and media refrain from spreading misinformation,” the 86-year-old had said.
