New Delhi: In Haryana, the battle for the 90-member Assembly is intense, with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pushing for a third consecutive term. After winning in 2014 and 2019, the BJP is striving for a “hat-trick,” led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who took over from Manohar Lal Khattar earlier this year. Saini’s political future, along with many other key leaders, hinges on these elections.
Congress is the main contender, with Bhupinder Singh Hooda aiming to make a comeback after a decade out of power. Though Congress hasn’t named a chief ministerial candidate, Hooda is banking on anti-incumbency. The Congress has also fielded Vinesh Phogat in Julana and made alliances with its INDIA bloc partners, including the CPI(M).
