New Delhi: PETA India (The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has urged the host of Bigg Boss 18 Salman Khan to not include animals as “props for entertainment” on the reality show. They requested the actor to influence the Bigg Boss 18 producers to “immediately stop” the use of animals and facilitate the donkey’s rescue. Suggesting a new home for the donkey, PETA has further offered to arrange for the donkey to live in a sanctuary with other rescued donkeys.
PETA India further encouraged contestant Advocate Gunaratna Sadavarte to surrender the donkey to PETA India. Reportedly, he brought the donkey inside the Bigg Boss 18 house.
PETA writes letter to Salman Khan
PETA India has officially written to Salman Khan and Bigg Boss 18 to remove a donkey named Max from the house. A donkey has been seen inside the house in the garden area where contestants take care of him. As per the letter by PETA, they have been getting complaints from the public over the donkey staying in the Bigg Bos 18 house.
PETA India pointed out that “the use of animals on a show set is no laughing matter”. They also highlighted that “donkeys are naturally nervous” and they would find the lights, sounds and clamour “confusing and frightening”.
They further wrote in the letter, “Society has evolved, and the caring public finds the use of animals on shows sad, not funny. Please take the steps suggested in this letter to show that Bigg Boss recognises animals deserve our compassion and respect.”
