Pet owners take note! Greater Noida Authority implements new pet policy | Know more

A dog policy was formed and implemented in Greater Noida in June, However, even after the implementation of the pet policy, dog attacks and controversies around pet dogs and feeding stray dogs continued. In order to address this issue, the Greater Noida Authority made changes in the existing dog policy and added more rules.

Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Authority on Tuesday announced new pet policy rules. Several changes were made in the pet policy in view of recent dog attacks in residential societies. The new dog policy was made in the 132nd board meeting of Greater Noida Authority. The new rules also have a provision for action against the dog owner.

In order to address this issue, the Greater Noida Authority made changes in the existing dog policy and added more rules.

 

RWAs, AOAs can’t make their own pet rules

The AOA and RWA of Greater Noida residential societies were also instructed that they have to abide by the pet policy implemented by the authorities. The Greater Noida Authority officials said that AOAs and RWAs can not change or make additional rules regarding pet animals, and have to stick to the advisory issued by the authority. The officials added that dog feeding spots can only be created with the mutual consent of the residents of the society.

The new rules were welcomed by both animal lovers and other residents of the society. As per the new policy, in case of any issue by pet animals, action will be ensured against the owner. However, residents asked, what would be done in case of attack by stray animals.

 

New rules in Greater Noida pet policy

  1. If a pet owner intentionally unleashes their animal on someone, action will be taken against the pet owner under relevant sections.
  2. Pet animals cannot be left open in public places. Only adults can take the pet animals for a walk. Children cannot take the dog out for a walk. Action will be taken against defaulters and a challan will be issued.
  3. Extra caution has to be taken before taking pets to public places and elevators.
  4. Use only service lift while transporting pets.
  5. Use of dog chain and leash is mandatory while taking the canines it in the lift.
  6. If someone gets injured by a dog, the dog owner will be completely responsible for the victim’s treatment.
  7. If a pet animal attacks someone, city police and administration will take action against the owner.
  8. Pets cannot be taken to crowded places.
  9. If the animals defecates in public places while walking, it will be the responsibility of the dog owner to clean it.
