Mumbai: The new Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is all set for its first trial landing on October 5, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to grace the event. Domestic flights operations from the airport are likely to start in March 2025, followed by international flights in June 2025.
Sanjay Shirsat, new chairman of the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), visited the airport site on Tuesday. He was joined by the CIDCO’s vice chairman and managing director, Vijay Singhal, along with officials from the Adani group, which is building the airport through Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd. CIDCO has a 25 per cent stake in the project.
After reviewing the site’s progress, Shirsat addressed the media and said, “Construction is moving ahead well, and we are on track to meet our deadlines. On October 5, an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft will land at the airport for a trial. We are planning this event with the Prime Minister’s presence. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is personally overseeing the arrangements.”
He added, “If the test landing goes well, we will launch domestic flights in March 2025 and international flights by June.”
