Bengaluru: The stage is set for a blockbuster Test series between India and New Zealand starting in Bengaluru on Wednesday, October 16. The first match of the three-Test series will be staged at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as the Men In Blue great ready to extend their home dominance.
It will be a special occasion for KL Rahul, the local boy, who will be playing a Test at his home ground for the first time in six years. The stylish batter has come a long way from playing cricket at the iconic venue as a school kid to an established international player. Rahul who had a decent outing against Bangladesh in the two-Test series is all but certain to hold onto his starting sport against New Zealand in the Test series opener.
BCCI shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) featuring Rahul – Bengaluru’s “Namma Maga” (Our son) – who reflected on his memories of playing at the Chinnaswamy Stadium as an 11-year-old kid. The star batter got nostalgic while remembering his early days as a young cricketer looking to make a mark in domestic cricket.
Rahul, 32, shared some sweet memories and said that he still has the same level of excitement when playing at his home ground.
He also reflected on his early days at the iconic stadium and walked down memory lane remembering the times when he had dosa and coffee at the canteen. The camera switched to visuals of the dishes being made and served at the canteen.
