‘My religion is humanity’: YSRCP chief Jagan Reddy’s visit to Tirumala cancelled

The cancellation comes in the background of ruling coalition parties TDP, Jana Sena and BJP, asking Jagan to publicly declare his ‘faith’.

Hyderabad: Amid police restrictions, YCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy cancelled his visit to Tirumala Tirupati temple.

The cancellation comes in the background of ruling coalition parties TDP, Jana Sena and BJP, asking Jagan to publicly declare his ‘faith’ before entering the temple shrine. They demanded Jagan to declare his belief in Lord Venkateswara before entering the temple officially.

Section 30 Police Act in force:

On Friday, district police issued notices to YCP leaders and cadre to not violate Section 30 of the Police Act. The police also said that they could issue the notice to the former cm himself when he landed at Renigunta airport later on Friday to not violate prohibitory orders.

Speaking to the media after canceling his visit, Jagan Reddy said, “This kind of monstrosity was never seen before in the state. Attempting to stop people from going to God has never happened in this country. I haven’t seen this happen in my political life. Police are giving notices to YSRCP corporators and leaders saying that I don’t have the permissions to go visit the temple.”

“Isn’t this monstrous rule of the state? Why are they so eager to divert the topic? If we look at Tirupati laddu issue, we are finding out that CM Chandrababu Naidu lied and one by one, the lies are all coming out,” Jagan Reddy said.

For five years as CM, I gave silk robes to Lord Venkateswara over five years on every major festival. Today, they say I shouldn’t go to the temple and they cite my religion as the reason. I read Bible within the four walls of my home. When I step out, I respect all religions including Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism. My religion is humanity. Write it in the declaration if you will.”
