Rain menace in Maharashtra
The government ordered a “Panchnama” (damage assessment) in areas affected by the rain, and Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde assured financial assistance to those impacted. Navi Mumbai also experienced heavy downpours, especially in areas like Juinagar, Belapur, and Airoli, with waterlogging causing panic among residents. In Badlapur, rain intensified suddenly, submerging the main road from Ambernath to Badlapur, forcing motorists to navigate through deep water.

Similar weather conditions affected other parts of Vidarbha, where crops like soybeans, tur (pigeon pea), and cotton have been heavily damaged due to the continuous rains over the past few days.
In Marathwada, the rains led to the opening of five gates of the Limboti Dam in Nanded-Latur, releasing 100 cusecs of water into the riverbed. Authorities warned the nearby villages to remain alert.
In Sangli’s Miraj taluka, heavy rainfall has caused streams to overflow. In one incident, an elderly man was swept away by floodwaters while crossing a bridge in Thanang village but was saved after becoming trapped in a tree. The AYUSH helpline team, with help from the local police, managed to rescue him after he was stuck for over two hours.
