Mumbai: The Wester Railway announced that local train services in Mumbai will be disrupted due to a four-hour block at Goregaon and Malad stations on the night of September 30 and October 1. The megablock will take place on the fast lines at Goregaon and both the fast and slow lines at Malad. The block is being conducted to facilitate the ongoing construction of the sixth line between Goregaon and Kandivali stations.
Taking to social media, the Western Railway said, “To facilitate the construction of the sixth line, a four-hour block will happen on the UP and DOWN fast lines at Goregaon and the UP and DOWN fast and slow lines at Malad on the night of September 30/October 1, 2024.”
Megablock’s impact on Mumbai local train services
This block will likely affect suburban train services, causing delays of 20 to 30 minutes. In addition to this, mail and express trains may be delayed by about 10 to 20 minutes during this time.
Here are the details of the last suburban trains on Monday night:
- From Churchgate, the Virar local will leave at 11:27 pm and arrive at 1:15 am.
- The Andheri local will depart from Churchgate at 1:00 am, reaching Andheri by 1:10 am.
- The Churchgate local from Virar will depart at 11:30 pm, arriving at Churchgate by 1:10 am.
- Churchgate local from Borivali will leave at 12:10 am and arrive at Churchgate at 1:15 am.
- The CSMT local will leave Goregaon at 12:07 am, arriving at CSMT by 1:02 am.

Train cancellations or short-term halts might happen during the block. The Western Railway has also provided a list of trains that might get cancelled. During the block period, trains will mainly operate between Churchgate to Andheri and Virar to Borivali.

In addition to this, the Wester Railway will impose speed restrictions between Ram Mandir-Goregaon-Malad Section of 30km/h due to ongoing 5th & 6th line construction starting September 30. The speed restrictions will be relaxed in a phased manner and by October 4, the suburban services will return to normal, except during block periods, announced the WR.
