New Delhi: Marriage is regarded as sacred by many, symbolizing a deep commitment to one person for a lifetime. It is more than a social or legal contract; it is a profound union built on trust, love, and mutual respect. By choosing to marry, individuals make a promise to stand by each other through life’s challenges, joys, and everyday moments. This commitment often reflects shared values, goals, and a willingness to grow together. For many, marriage is a meaningful journey of companionship and understanding, where two people choose to support each other and create a lasting bond.

Usually, there is only one person that you commit to when you decide to marry. However, for this one Chinese man, having a wife did not mean that he was off the market as he ended up having a relationship with four other women as well. The shocking part came when they call ended up in the same housing complex – with one of the man’s girlfriends also living in the exact same building as his wife – all of this, while being unaware of each other

This covert arrangement continued for more than four years, with none of the women discovering each other’s existence, leading to widespread astonishment on Chinese social media. The man, referred to by the pseudonym Xiaojun, is from Jilin province in northeastern China. His age hasn’t been disclosed, and he comes from a financially struggling background, having left secondary school before completion.

Xiaojun crafted a persona as a wealthy heir to deceive his wife, Xiaojia. Despite his humble family background—his mother worked in a bathhouse, and his father took on various part-time construction jobs—he spun a story of affluent parents managing thriving businesses. To win Xiaojia over, he frequently gave her imitation luxury goods bought online. Shortly after Xiaojia became pregnant, they formalized their relationship in marriage.

What happened next?

When Xiaojia learned of Xiaojun’s true financial situation, she chose not to pursue a divorce but instead decided to raise their child independently, eventually forcing him to leave their home, as reported by SCMP.

Afterwards, Xiaojun met Xiaohong online and deceived her into lending him 140,000 yuan. He then rented an apartment nearby to live with her, all while continuing relationships with three other women: university students Xiaomin and Xiaoxin, and nurse Xiaolan, from whom he borrowed smaller amounts. His deception came to light when Xiaoxin, growing suspicious, discovered fake cash in a bag he had claimed held a substantial amount. Her report to the police led to Xiaojun’s arrest, exposing his lie to all involved.
