India News

‘Breaking party’s discipline’ has been cites as the reason for the suspension by Maharashtra BJP. In a similar move, BJP also expelled about 30 rebels in Jharkhand after they announced to contest state polls and Independents against party candidates.

Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday late night expelled its 40 leaders and party workers allegedly for not following party’s line across 37 Assembly seats in Maharashtra.

The moves comes after several rebel candidates filed their nominations in the state after being denied ticket by the party. BJP however has claimed to have pacified most of these rebels but few of them remained defiant.

In its official statement, BJP said these party leaders and workers were expelled for ‘not following’ party discipline and ‘breaking it.’
