A pregnant woman in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh, was forced to clean her husband’s blood-stained bed after he was killed in a brutal attack linked to a land dispute that claimed three family members’ lives. The assailants assaulted the victims with weapons.

Bhopal: In a shocking incident in Dindori district, Madhya Pradesh, a pregnant woman was reportedly forced to clean the blood-stained bed of her husband after he died from injuries sustained in a brutal attack on his family.

The attack took place on Thursday evening in the usually peaceful Lalpur Sani village and resulted in the deaths of three family members—a 65-year-old man, Dharam Singh Marawi, and his two sons, Raghuraj Marawi and Shivraj Marawi, both 40 years old.

Three members of family killed due to land dispute

The violence stemmed from a long-standing land dispute. The victims had gone to confront their relatives who were harvesting paddy on a field that had been awarded to them by a court ruling in 2018.

As they approached the field, a mob of 20 to 25 attackers armed with sticks, rods, axes, and sickles launched an assault on them. The family members were severely beaten and chased for nearly an hour. Ramraj Marawi, the only surviving family member, suffered serious injuries but managed to escape and call for help.

Shivraj Marawi succumbed to his injuries shortly after being taken to the Gardasari health centre. Following his death, a video circulated showing his wife, Roshni, who is five months pregnant, being compelled to clean the blood from the bed, as reported by The Times Of India.

Hospital staff issued showcause notice

This video prompted outrage online and hospital staff received a showcause notice regarding their handling of the situation. However, Dr. Chandrashekhar Tekam from the health centre stated that Roshni was attempting to collect blood-soaked cloth pieces for evidence and was not directly instructed to clean.

Local police have arrested four suspects identified as Ghanshyam Marawi, Kanwal Singh Marawi, Patiram Marawi, and Kartik Marawi, all relatives of the victims. Three additional suspects, Son Singh, Sarwan, and Jahar Singh, are still at large. A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder. The condition of the third son, who was also attacked, remains critical as he continues to receive treatment at the district hospital.
