FADA has released the luxury car sales for the month of September and Mercedes Benz has come on top. Here is everything you need to know.
Here is the luxury car sales numbers for September 2024.
The luxury car market is ever-growing in India and manufacturers are putting more and more effort to create specific products for the Indian market, and offering more and more options from their international portfolios as well. For the month of September, Mercedes Benz has come on top but the trend has been usually downwards in terms of sales when compared to the last year.
Here is the brand wise sales of all the luxury car manufacturers:
- Mercedes Benz: Mercedes sold 1,308 units in September 2024 which is down from 1,451 units from last year.
- BMW: BMW sold 1,011 units in September 2024 which is down from 1,175 units from last year.
- Jaguar and Land Rover: JLR sold 447 units in September 2024 which is down from 448 units from last year.
- Volvo: Volvo only sold 112 units in September 2024 which is down from 186 units from last year.
- Audi: Audi sold 37 CBU units in September 2024 which is down from 77 units from last year.
We can see that the luxury car market has been struggling for now but the whole automotive industry has come to a slump for now. There is expectation that these numbers will get better during the festive season and by the end of the year when people rush to get luxury cars at massive discount offers to clear out the inventory from dealers.
Some manufacturers might still struggle though, Jaguar has halted production of their cars and there will be no new car from them for the upcoming year. Land Rover is doing well for itself and Audi doesn’t disclose the numbers of cars which are sold and are not CBU’s, so we cannot really judge where they stand in terms of competition. BMW and Mercedes have been fighting for the crown of being the top luxury car manufacturer in India.
Another point to consider is that sales of luxury EVs is also coming down slightly as people are moving back to ICE vehicles. This trend has been seen in the international markets as well and even though India is susceptible to these changes, it will eventually be seen in our markets as well.
