New Delhi: Fans lashed out at Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli, advising them to retire from Test cricket after the duo’s flop show continued during India’s second innings of the ongoing 3rd Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Both Rohit and Kohli got dismissed cheaply, leaving India in a huge spot of bother in their 147-run chase in the 2nd innings.
Rohit and Kohli have both struggled with their form throughout the series and have failed to play a single impactful knock for the hosts, who are on the verge of getting whitewashed against the Kiwis. The duo was expected to turn up and reduce the burden on others in the tricky 147-run chase for India in their 2nd innings on a turning surface at the Wankhede.
However, they disappointed yet again. Rohit continued with his attacking approach at the top and perished after managing only 11 as he was caught by Glenn Phillips off the bowling of pacer Matt Henry. The Indian skipper had earlier been dismissed cheaply on just 18 runs in India’s first innings of the Test match.
Kohli’s struggles against spin continued as he was dismissed by New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel. Kohli edged a turning delivery from Patel to get caught by Daryl Mitchell at first slip as he was dismissed cheaply after scoring just 1 run off 7 balls. Kohli had scored 4 runs in India’s first innings in Mumbai before getting run out in a miserable manner.
Fans slammed both senior batters as their flop show continued in India’s second innings with many urging the duo to retire from Test cricket. Both batters have struggled massively in the New Zealand series and it doesn’t bode well for India ahead of their challenging tour of Australia.

Kohli should get an England PR and settle there for good. These Cricket & ad-shoot trips to India won’t last long.
Rohit should retire too.
No matter what they do at BGT, a whitewash at home is a stain on their careers.

You’re not a god, bro. You can’t just play for two weeks and then head back to London for a month. Either commit to good cricket or retire to balance family life. It doesn’t matter how many centuries you’ve smashed or how high your standards are #ViratKohli #INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/1dzXTzd3Ij

Rohit and Kohli should gracefully retire now…Kohli is averaging 30 odd in Last 5 Years…don’t remember any batsman in Indian history to be given such a long rope despite failing regularly in both Home and Away… …. Rohit ka test career bhi 3 saal ka hi tha…

New Zealand on cusp of registering historic whitewash against India
After creating history by clinching their maiden Test series on Indian soil, New Zealand are eyeing more history as they are on the cusp of registering a historic whitewash in the ongoing three-match series against India. New Zealand bowlers ran riot during India’s second innings to reduce the hosts to 71/6 in their second innings on Sunday, closing in on a huge victory.
No team has ever managed to whitewash India in a three-match Test series at home. New Zealand are now just 4 wickets away from achieving the rare feat with India still 75 runs away from the 147-run target at the time this story was published.
