Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) Commissioner AV Ranganath and additional commissioner of traffic P Viswa Prasad discussed steps required to tackle traffic problems and ensure smooth flow of traffic.
Hydraa will reportedly initiate a drive to clear commercial outlets occupying footpaths and colony roads. It was also discussed during the joint review on Thursday, reports said.
Ranganath said that traders will be given advanced notices for clearance and initiatives will also include removing obstructions around telecom ducts, power transformers and garbage bins.
The agency is expected to collaborate with the traffic department to ease congestion on narrow roads via vehicle diversions and regulatory steps in peak hours.
Hydraa’s DRF teams will also help in managing traffic during heavy rains and other natural disasters, employing high powered motors for quick water removal to address waterlogging issues.
Currently, the city has 144 identified waterlogging spots and 65 located within the ghmc limits.
Hydraa empowered by the state government:
In recent times, Hydraa has been empowered by the state government, with GHMC passing orders for the agency to safeguard public assets, including roads, water bodies, public streets, public parks that belong to the state government or the civic body.
Earlier this week, Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration (MAUD) issued a gazette notification under Section 374B of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955, which was recently amended by a state ordinance.
