Hyderabad: All eateries in the city, including hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and ice cream shops, can now stay open until 1 am every night, stated an internal memo from the Office of the Commissioner of Police issued on Tuesday. This memo came a month after CM A Revanth Reddy announced in the Legislative Assembly that restaurants would be allowed to operate until 1 am in the tri-commissionerates.
A senior police official told The New Indian Express that while they are waiting for a formal government order, the CM’s announcement has been noted, and the orders have already been implemented informally for the past month.
Rules for other businesses
As per the new order, all other shops and businesses, barring eateries, can operate from 9 am to 11 pm. Meanwhile, liquor stores are allowed to open from 10 am to 11 pm within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits. Previously, a memo from the Excise department set specific hours for bars serving liquor. During weekdays, these establishments can remain open from 10 am to midnight. On Fridays and Saturdays, they are allowed to stay open until 1 am.
Hyderabad’s Commissioner of Police, CV Anand, has instructed all Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), and Station House Officers to inform shops and businesses about these new timings. He also stated that if any management does not comply with these instructions, legal action will be taken against them.
