Investigation regarding the death of Guruprasad is currently underway by police. A case has been registered in the matter. However, it is believed that the renowned filmmaker was troubled by some issues and eventually died by suicide.

New Delhi: Sending shockwaves through the Indian entertainment industry, Kannada filmmaker Guruprasad was found dead on Sunday morning (November 3, 2024) in his Bengaluru apartment. He was 52 years old at the time of his tragic demise.
It is being said that Guruprasad’s body was found hanging in his residential complex on the outskirts of the city. The renowned director is suspected to have died by suicide. However, there is no official confirmation about the same so far.
According to news agency ANI, Bengaluru Rural SP CK Baba stated that Guruprasad had been experiencing financial distress and, as a result, he returned to his Bengaluru apartment recently. The officer further mentioned that Guruprasad was troubled by various matters, which were likely related to films and other issues.
Neighbours reportedly saw Guruprasad entering his apartment. Sadly, after 5-6 days of not coming out, it was discovered that he had ended his life.
Who was Guruprasad?
Guruprasad made his directorial debut in the film industry with Mata in 2006. The black comedy, starring Jaggesh and Vaijanath Biradar, won the hearts of cinema lovers and established Guruprasad in the industry.
In 2009, Eddelu Manjunatha opened to positive reviews from critics and achieved cult status for its intriguing storyline and compelling performances from the lead cast. The film was honoured with the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Screenplay.
His latest project was Ranganayaka, a political satire featuring Jaggesh and Rachitha Mahalakshmi. The storyline of the flick revolved around a filmmaker who gets to know that he had attempted to make the first-ever Kannada film in a past life.
