A case has been booked under relevant BNS sections and POCSO Act and the accused has been arrested, a senior police official said.

Hyderabad: Four police personnel were injured when parents and student organisations protesting over the sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl student, clashed with the police at Jeevadan school in Kamareddy district of Telangana on Tuesday, reports said.

On Monday, the mother of the victim filed a complaint with the police accusing the physical education teacher of assaulting her daughter.

The accused identified as Nagaraju, reportedly locked the 6-year-old girl in a bathroom and misbehaved with her. A case has been booked under relevant BNS sections and POCSO Act and the accused has been arrested, Kamareddy SP Sindhu Sarma said.

Protestors demand action against school management:

A large number of parents and students gathered at the school on Tuesday to protest the incident and demand action against the school management. They also raised other long standing demands with the school.

The parents demanded the school principal and vice-principal to be named as accused in the case. The police said that they would verify and investigate the case to confirm the ‘complicity’ of the school management.

During the protests, some of the demonstrators tried to enter the school to vandalise but were stopped from doing so, after which a scuffle broke out injuring four policemen. Protestors were later dispersed and police are verifying cctv footage to identify those who injured the policemen.
