New Delhi: On September 14, 2024, Priyanka Chopra Jonas took to her social media to announce the release date of her upcoming Marathi film, Paani. For those unaware, the movie does not feature Priyanka in an acting role, in fact, the actress has a producer credit in the trailer. Addressing the pressing issue of water scarcity across the globe, Priyanka Chopra calls the feature film ‘a fight for survival’. Here is what happened.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, the producer of the film, unveiled the trailer on her Instagram account and wrote, “This is more than a story – it’s a fight for survival.” The 1-minute and 26-second teaser shows a group of people abandoning their homes and moving to the city after facing intense water scarcity. But, not everyone leaves, the ones who are left behind decide to fight back and find a source of water in the near vicinity. Amid these tense scenes, the beginnings of a love story while enduring a drought together.

Paani movie – cast
The cast for the Marathi feature film, Paani, includes Subhodh Bhave, Kishore Kadam, Adinath Kothare, Rucha Vaidya and a cameo by Aamir Khan. Directed by Adinath Kothare, the movie is set in Maharashtra’s drought-stricken village of Nagderwadi. Priyanka Chopra Jonas announced the film in August 2024 and revealed that Paani will be released in theatres on October 18, 2024.
