The latest festive season sale witnessed the smartphone sale growth of 11 per cent. Know which smartphones became the most selling ones.
Smartphone sales during festive season
Several e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart, Amazon, Vijay Sales and others have come up with their special festive season sale ahead of Diwali. During this first wave of the festive season sale 2024, smartphone sales in India witnessed a steep 11 per cent year-over-year growth spanning from September 26 to October 6. According to the latest report from TechInsights, this growth was driven by sales events such as Flipkart’s Big Billion Days and Amazon’s Great Indian Festival.
The report further reveled that online sales accounted for a massive 78 per cent of total sales, with offline retail picking up during the Navratri festivities. However, offline sales in northern India lagged slightly due to Shradh, a period of reverence that impacted buying activity. In contrast, regions like West Bengal and Gujarat saw higher sales as consumers prepared for Durga Puja.
Who Leads The Smartphone Sales
During the festive season sales, Samsung emerged as the top smartphone vendor having a 20 per cent market share. Some popular models like the Galaxy M35, Galaxy S23, Galaxy A14, and Galaxy S23 FE have been part of this huge sales.
Following the Samsung, Apple claimed the second spot in the rankings, with a 16 per cnet market share. The iPhone 15 was a major hit, crossing the one million sales mark within the 11-day period. Apple’s strong performance represents a leap from its fourth-place position in 2023 to second in 2024, with a 44 per cent year-over-year growth. The iPhone 13 also performed well, but the iPhone 15 clearly led the charge.
Apart from these, the Oppo and OnePlus, ranked third, with models like the Oppo K12x and OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite boosting the sales. Xiaomi and Realme also maintained strong positions, rounding out the top five. Xiaomi’s POCO M6 and Redmi 13C, along with Realme’s 12X, P1, and Narzo 70 Pro, were among the best-selling models.
Motorola, although not in the top five, showed a 35 per cent year-over-year growth. This growth was fueled by successful product launches, including the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, G85, and G45, which resonated well with consumers during the festive season.
