19 Hookah pots seized worth Rs 30,000
The key accused, Muzammil, 26, owner of Wolf Cafe and Lounge in Bahadurpura, was at the center of the illicit operation. During the raid on Wednesday, September 25, Muzammil and six others were taken into custody. Among those arrested were Mohd Furkhan Ahmed (18), Mohd Nazeer (41), Sayed Zameer (25), Syed Sohail (20), Syed Fazal (20), and Mohd Mukkram (20). The police seized 19 hookah pots, multiple boxes of flavors, and coils, with the total value estimated at Rs 30,000.
According to police reports, Muzammil had been struggling with low profits and decided to sell hookah mixed with nicotine and other suspicious substances, charging customers higher rates. The illegal business had reportedly been operating for some time.
Accused booked for the second time: Police report
The investigation also revealed that Muzammil sourced his hookah flavors from a local pan shop owned by Mohd Nazeer. Notably, this was not Muzammil’s first offense and he had been previously booked for similar charges just a year ago.
Muzammil now faces charges under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 6 and 7 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTP), 2003. These laws strictly regulate tobacco sales and prohibit the sale of such products to minors.
